Re: the election last night, it is now across all the main papers. Obama is the victor. There were an estimated 140 million voters up from 120 million in 2004. The final numbers from CNN give Obama 338 Electoral Votes to McCains’s 163.
In a previous post I said that the “walking” statues on Grafton Street had disappeared and I was wondering what was next. Well a comment from Damien Mulley and some pictures of O’Connell Street show that Christmas decorations are now going up on the main street. According to page 2 of the Irish Independent the “Eco Tree” which is going up in the centre is composed of 100,000 energy efficient bulbs which will be switched on by the Lord Mayor on Sunday.
